Kiwanis Club Hears from Chelsea Community Fair President Eric McCalla

Last Monday, Chelsea Kiwanis heard from Chelsea Community Fair President Eric McCalla. He reported that this year’s Fair was the most successful ever, topping the 2022 Fair.

He credited the Fair’s new website, the new asphalt paving, the mounted shooting event, and the beer tent with helping to beat all previous years.

Washtenaw County is the only county in Michigan to hold three fairs during the summer. Chelsea’s Fair is considered to be medium-sized by the Michigan Association of Fairs and Entertainments (25,000-30,000 visitors). Eric attends their annual convention in January at the Amway Grand.

Next year, the Fair is looking to have more paving done. McCall said his wish list includes a large event center, covering and enlarging the horse arena, working to extend Wi-Fi beyond the service center, and hosting a concert.

Kiwanis is happy to continue its support, which began in 1937.
