Chelsea’s four JV girls closed out their cross-country season at the Brighton JV Invitational on Monday, Oct. 26, at Huron Meadows Metropark in Brighton. Highlights:
- Sophomore Jaclyn Guy led the group, placing 46th of 70 runners in 25:50.4. It was a personal record and the fastest time of her first season, 41 seconds faster than her PR.
- Freshman Aya Kushner placed 51st in 26:18.0, close to her PR.
- Junior Emily Xiao placed 61st in 29:39.3 after a strong first mile and a kick at the end to pass another runner down the stretch.
- Sophomore Ester De Santa Gomez placed 69th in 32:49.3. She moved to the U.S. from Brazil in August for an exchange year and had never run before joining the team.
The remaining seven Chelsea girls cheered on their teammates at the meet.
Results from the MHSAA Regionals at Pinckney High School on Oct. 31 determine whether any runners advance to the state finals on Nov. 7 at MIS.
