Chelsea Area Players Jr. Brings Fairy-Tale Fun to the Stage with Little Red Robin Hood

What happens when Robin Hood crosses paths with Humpty Dumpty, the Three Little Pigs, and Cinderella’s evil stepsisters? Fairy-tale mischief! Chelsea Area Players Jr. (CAP Jr.) invites audiences of all ages to enjoy “Little Red Robin Hood,” a lively, laugh-filled comedy taking the stage Nov. 13-15 at the George Prinzing Auditorium of the Washington Street Education Center.

This playful twist on familiar stories brings together an unlikely assortment of beloved characters for an adventure filled with humor, surprises, and plenty of opportunities for young actors to shine. From the Merry Men to a wolf that doesn’t want to be a villain, this production promises a delightfully unconventional journey through the world of fairy tales.

This year’s production attracted CAP Jr.’s second-largest audition turnout ever for a non-musical play, a testament to the remarkable enthusiasm for youth theater in the Chelsea community. With so many talented and eager young actors ready to participate, director Alex Moore and the creative team embraced the challenge of finding meaningful opportunities for everyone to contribute.

“I have to admire these young actors, eager to participate, no matter the role,” said Moore.

The result is even more entertainment! Before the main performance, audiences will be treated to six short, humorous “commercials” featuring cast members. These playful additions give young performers opportunities to take on multiple roles, stretch their comedic talents, and share even more of their creativity with the audience. It’s a little extra entertainment before the curtain rises on the main story.

Behind the laughter is a tremendous amount of hard work, collaboration, and community spirit. The production brings together a large, energetic cast of talented young actors supported by dedicated adult volunteers who contribute their time and talents to make community theater possible. From rehearsals and costumes to sets, props, and the countless details that bring a production to life, Little Red Robin Hood celebrates what happens when a community comes together to support its young people.

“As always, these kids continue to amaze me with their dedication, their humor, and of course their acting,” reflects Moore. “Every rehearsal is filled with fun, camaraderie, and the joy of working together to create a play.”

CAP Jr. also offers students opportunities to build confidence, form friendships, practice teamwork, and discover the joy of performing. The cast’s enthusiasm and chemistry are as much a part of the experience as the performance itself.

With its colorful characters, clever humor, and enthusiastic young performers, Little Red Robin Hood promises an entertaining outing for families, friends, and theater lovers of all ages. Come support local youth theater, enjoy a few laughs, and see just how much talent Chelsea’s young performers have to offer.
