City of Chelsea sidewalk replacements are expected to begin Tuesday, Oct. 27, in the Belser Estates and Chelsea Ridge subdivisions, weather permitting. The work includes isolated sidewalk replacements and restoration.
Traffic will be maintained, with lane closures as needed. The contractor, Washtenaw Concrete and Excavating, will maintain full access for all property owners throughout the project.
Some sidewalk replacements may be in driveways. The contractor will do its best to coordinate with homeowners before replacing them.
Sprinkler systems are not permitted in the city right-of-way. The city and its construction contractors are not responsible for damage to sprinkler systems installed there. Property owners with sprinklers in the right-of-way should mark them ahead of time, and the contractor will do its best to avoid damaging them.
The target date for substantial completion is the end of November 2026.
