Brio Living Services has promoted Julie Korson to chief financial officer, effective Sept. 1. Korson has worked for the senior living organization for nearly 20 years and replaces Kalen Carlson, who served as CFO since 2023.
In her new role, Korson will lead Brio’s finance team and help set strategic direction for the organization’s accounting, billing, treasury management, payables, forecasting and analysis functions. As a member of Brio’s senior executive team, she will also work across the organization’s 23 communities and service lines throughout Michigan’s Lower Peninsula, which together serve about 9,000 older adults statewide.
“For nearly twenty years, Julie has brought knowledge in budgeting, forecasting, long-term planning, billing, financial systems, reporting and team culture,” said Steve Fetyko, Brio’s president and CEO.
“After serving in a variety of for-profit sectors, my heart was quickly captured by every interaction within the not-for-profit senior living and aging services industry,” Korson said. “I continue to be amazed and proud of the variety of options available at Brio for those we serve.”
Beyond her professional work, Korson volunteers with public school systems, a local board of education, the Humane Society and local churches. She holds a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from the University of Louisville.
Brio Living Services, headquartered in Chelsea, has served older adults since 1906 and is the second-largest nonprofit senior living organization in Michigan.
