Nominations are now open for the 2026 Michigan Veteran of the Year award, with a deadline of June 15, 2026.
The award honors a Michigan veteran who has contributed the most over the past year to benefit veterans and their families, through service in veteran organizations and work in their community. The winner will be selected based on accomplishments and positions held in both the veteran and civilian communities.
Nominations can be submitted by anyone. Applicants are encouraged to have their nomination reviewed by a local veteran organization or service officer before submitting. To nominate online, visit michigan.gov/mvaa and search for the 2026 Michigan Veteran of the Year application. A paper application can also be mailed to:
MI VOY P.O. Box 30140 Lansing, MI 48909
The 2026 winner will be recognized at the Michigan Military and Veterans Gala in Detroit in November and honored in their local community earlier in the summer.
