The Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) has announced school classifications for the 2026-27 school year, and Chelsea is among 20 schools moving up in class. Chelsea will compete in Class A after previously being classified in Class B. The change affects all MHSAA-sponsored activities.
Classifications are based on enrollment figures from February 11, 2026. The new Class A threshold is 783 or more students.
