Residents with private wells can get their water tested Saturday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., courtesy of the Washtenaw County Conservation District (WCCD) and students from Eastern Michigan University. The event will be held at the WCCD, Room 2304, 705 N. Zeeb Rd.
Unlike city water systems, which are regularly tested, private wells are the responsibility of the homeowner. Tests offered include nitrate/nitrite, pH, turbidity, and more. Samples should be at least 8 ounces in a small, clean jar and no more than 48 hours old.
Full event details and water sampling instructions are available at washtenawcd.org/farmers/well-water-testing.
WCCD is a unit of local government focused on the conservation, management, and wise use of natural resources in Washtenaw County, funded in part through a conservation district millage. For questions, contact WCCD at [email protected] or (734) 302-8714.
