Silver Maples of Chelsea invites the community to celebrate creativity and craftsmanship while shopping local at the 18th Annual Harvest Art Market, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Silver Maples of Chelsea, 100 Silver Maples Drive.
Affectionately known as “the best little art market west of Ann Arbor,” the Harvest Art Market has become a favorite fall tradition, bringing together more than 20 talented artisans and an eclectic selection of original, handcrafted work.
Visitors can browse paintings, textiles, jewelry, pottery, fiber art, woodwork, photography, cards, mixed-media creations, and more. From functional pieces for the home to one-of-a-kind works of art, the Market offers plenty of opportunities to discover something special or get an early start on holiday shopping.
“Our goal is simple: to connect people with unique, handmade art at prices that are approachable,” said Silver Maples Life Enrichment Director Winn Nichols. “The variety this year is incredible. Whether you come looking for a gift, a piece for your home, or simply want to see what local artists are creating, you’re sure to discover something memorable.”
This year’s Market welcomes a mix of longtime favorites and new artists. Lisa Brown returns with her colorful pastel work, while woodworker Susan Kizer will showcase one-of-a-kind pieces created through segmented woodturning. Longtime vendor Cheryl Green will once again offer her popular collection of functional and decorative pottery.
New artists include Margaret DeCook, whose colorful fiber bowls come in a variety of sizes and make distinctive gifts, and Loretta Roskowski, who creates fused-glass jewelry.
Beyond the artwork, visitors can stop by the community bake sale for homemade cookies, cakes, brownies, breads, and other treats. Proceeds support Silver Maples student scholarships.
Admission and parking are free, and the entire event takes place indoors, making the Harvest Art Market an easy fall outing for shoppers of all ages.
