The Kiwanis Club thanks community members who stopped by its food concession trailer during the Sounds and Sights Festival, calling it a successful event that helps the club continue supporting community groups, especially those working with children.
The club recently completed Youth Protection Training for its members. As the premier provider of youth service clubs and programs around the world, Kiwanis International holds itself and its members to the highest standards of conduct and awareness.
Each year, more than 300,000 youth take part in Kiwanis Service Leadership Programs, including K-Kids for elementary students, Builders Club for middle school students, and Key Club for high school students. Kiwanis reaches millions more youth worldwide through club and district service projects. When working with and mentoring youth, their care and welfare are entrusted to Kiwanis members.
All Kiwanis clubs are required to complete youth protection training annually, covering best practices for working with youth in the community, and background checks are required for members who work more closely with kids.
Kiwanis partners with abuse prevention educator Praesidium Inc., a multidisciplinary organization that has spent more than 25 years researching child sexual abuse and developing prevention training, programs and services, to conduct youth protection and child abuse prevention courses. Resources provided to Kiwanis members include a 24/7 toll-free helpline and youth protection managers in each Kiwanis district.
