DDA Poll: Extend Downtown Music to Midnight on 12 Dates a Year?

The Chelsea Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is asking city residents to weigh in on a proposed change to the city’s noise ordinance.

Under current rules, the daytime noise ordinance cutoff is 10 p.m. unless a request for variance is approved by City Council in advance. The proposed change would let businesses with live music in the DDA district select up to 12 dates per year — submitted in January — to extend that cutoff until midnight, without a separate council request each time.
