Chelsea Kiwanis Club Hears from Chelsea’s First Congregational Church Speaking About Diaper Bank

At last Monday’s meeting, Kiwanis members heard from Sandy Andresen and Laura Gordon from Chelsea’s First Congregational Church about the church’s Diaper Bank.

Church members recognized the need and began providing diapers and feminine hygiene products to local families. In September 2022, they started by helping 20 families. Through donations and grants, the Diaper Bank now serves 200 families across Washtenaw, Jackson, Ingham, and Livingston Counties. In 2025, the program distributed $50,000 in supplies.

The Diaper Bank is grateful for the community’s generous donations and is looking to serve more families. They have made connections with the Senior Center and other area food pantries to distribute supplies at their locations. They are also looking to expand further into Dexter and Grass Lake and to connect with additional food pantries. Volunteers are needed to deliver to locations where supplies can be picked up by those in need.

The Kiwanis Club members offered their support and collected diapers and baby wipes at the meeting for delivery to the church.
