Chelsea Area Historical Society Welcomes Danna Segrest of the Purple Rose Theatre on Nov. 2

The Chelsea Area Historical Society (CAHS) will welcome longtime Purple Rose Theatre resident artist Danna Segrest for an evening of stories, memories, and a behind-the-scenes look at one of Chelsea’s most beloved cultural institutions.

The presentation will take place on Monday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m., at the historic Chelsea Depot, located at 125 Jackson St. in Chelsea, Michigan.

Danna has been a cherished member of the Purple Rose Theatre family since its very first production, “Blush at Nothing,” in 1991. She served as Resource Manager through 1996 and has remained an important part of the theatre’s creative community ever since.

A graduate of Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in communications and theatre, Danna brings a wealth of experience and a hands-on spirit to her work. As a resident artist, she is a jack-of-all-trades, lending her talents to everything from designing props to caring for the theatre’s plants. Her dedication, creativity, and willingness to pitch in wherever needed have made her a familiar and valued presence at the Purple Rose for more than three decades.

From its humble beginnings to becoming a cornerstone of Chelsea’s arts community, the Purple Rose Theatre has played an important role in our town’s story. Danna’s many years with the theatre give her a unique perspective on the people, productions, and behind-the-scenes moments that have helped make the Purple Rose such an important part of Chelsea.

Admission is free for Chelsea Area Historical Society members and $10 for non-members.

Whether you’re a longtime Purple Rose fan, a local history enthusiast, or simply someone who enjoys a good hometown story, this should be an enjoyable evening of Chelsea history.

Join your friends and neighbors at the historic Chelsea Depot for an evening of local history, theatre memories, and good conversation.
