At Ballet Chelsea, the measure of a dance education extends well beyond what happens at the barre.
As families plan for the upcoming school year, Ballet Chelsea is opening its 2026–27 studio year with a curriculum designed to develop not only dancers but also strong, confident, and creative individuals. Fall semester registration is now open, with classes beginning Aug. 24. Dancers and families can register on the Ballet Chelsea website.
“Dance education gives students something they can carry far beyond the studio,” said Michelle Quenon, Artistic Director of Ballet Chelsea. “They learn to accept challenges, develop confidence, and become part of a community. Technique matters, but so does who they become through the process.”

Ballet Chelsea’s programming reflects the idea that there is more than one way to be a dancer. The Young Dancer Program introduces children as young as three to movement and dance, while the Ballet Training Program provides progressive instruction for developing dancers. Classes include ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, pointe, conditioning, and other disciplines.
Recreational, teen, and adult classes welcome those exploring or returning to dance, with adult classes offered on a drop-in basis. At the same time, Ballet Chelsea’s Adaptive Dance Program expands access to movement for participants who face barriers to traditional dance and fitness programs.
For students pursuing more advanced training, Ballet Chelsea offers a structured pathway from foundational instruction to performance opportunities. Beyond technique and artistry, dancers learn how to prepare, work with others, respond to constructive feedback, and build resilience to keep going when something doesn’t come easily.
New students are encouraged to use Ballet Chelsea’s Studio Inquiry process to find the right starting point based on age and experience. Free trial classes are available for many programs.
