Nov. 7: Tractor Tire Drive at Freedom Township Hall

The Washtenaw County Conservation District and Washtenaw County Water Resources Materials Management Division are holding their 6th Annual Tractor Tire Drive on Nov. 7 from 9 a.m.- 12 p.m. at Freedom Township Hall (11508 E Pleasant Lake Rd, Manchester, MI 48158).

Since its inception, the drive has collected over 100 tons of tires from the agricultural community, preventing them from leaching chemicals into groundwater and reducing breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

Registration for the event is required as space is limited. A maximum of up to 6 tractor or 12 semi tires per address/operation will be accepted. Tires left outside of drop-off hours may result in the cancellation of future tire drive events.

If you are interested in dropping off large agricultural tires, register online at washtenawcd.org/farmers/tractor-tire-drive or call 734-302-8711 to register by phone.

Car tires are NOT accepted at this event. Refer to a County Clean Up Day for car tire recycling.

Thanks to Jill Lada and Washtenaw County Conservation District for the information in this story.
