Singer-songwriters Anne Heaton and Ani Mari will perform at the next On the Tracks Songwriter Showcase at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at the historic Chelsea Depot.

Anne Heaton, who lived in Ann Arbor for more than five years and now lives in Milwaukee, writes songs The Washington Post has described as “tender, barbed and spiritual.” She played Lilith Fair in 2010 and has shared stages with artists including Jewel and Sarah McLachlan. Her work has been featured on the New York Times Music Podcast and covered by NPR, and she has appeared at the Sundance Film Festival. In 2025, she gave a TEDx talk on how songwriting “fosters connection, empathy, self-expression, and authenticity.”
Ani Mari is an alt-Americana singer-songwriter from the Northwoods of Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula. Her music weaves complex chord progressions into stories and melodies that range from roots folk to indie rock. She performs solo, with the folk duo Ani & Kora, and with a backing band, and has toured nationally for more than a decade. Her debut album, girlfriend, came out in 2023. Her second, The Masquerade, was released Aug. 28.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. at the Chelsea Depot, 125 Jackson St. Admission is a suggested $20 donation at the door, with 100% of proceeds going to the performers. Seating is first come, first served.
On the Tracks Songwriter Showcase is in its 14th season, with shows on the first Wednesday of each month through May 2027. To learn more about upcoming performances, visit onthetrackschelsea.com.
