The Chelsea Post (chelseapost.com) is a locally owned, independent news site and growing community resource in Chelsea, Michigan.
Our goal is to be the go-to place for Chelsea information: local news, community announcements, city meetings, upcoming events, recent obituaries, and area resources. While other news outlets and event calendars tend to cover a much wider area, we’re focused specifically on the Chelsea area and the people who live here.
The Chelsea Post launched in April 2026 as the successor to Chelsea Update, a local news site founded by Lisa Allmendinger in 2012, which ran until her retirement in March 2026. Lisa continues to contribute to The Chelsea Post as a writer and advisor.

What We Cover
Our focus is hyperlocal: the City of Chelsea, Chelsea School District, the surrounding townships, and Washtenaw County news with a direct Chelsea angle. We occasionally publish information about events in neighboring cities when there is a Chelsea connection. If it matters to Chelsea residents, it belongs here.
Our Standard
We take pride in accurate, factual reporting, and we correct errors promptly. On news and public issues, we report only the facts, not opinions. We do not publish political opinion pieces, but we always welcome story ideas, feedback, and questions from readers.
Community features, event coverage, and arts may reflect enthusiasm or a personal point of view — and we think that’s part of what makes local news worth reading.
Independence & Funding
The Chelsea Post is independently owned with no political or corporate backing. Revenue comes from local advertising and voluntary reader contributions. We are not affiliated with any political party, PAC, or outside organization.
We accept advertising from local and regional businesses and organizations. We do not accept political advertising.
